Memento Mori (Tattoo)

$5.00 +

Throughout art history, skulls in painting and sculpture have been used as memento mori, or reminders of mortality. Painter Hans Holbein famously inserted a skull into The Ambassadors (1533), rendered in an oblique perspective. The enigmatic object was only revealed when seen from the proper vantage point.

Like Holbein's painting, this tattoo skull is obscured until seen from the correct view. Stretched to fit along the side of your index finger, this skull is difficult to decipher until you point at someone to remind them—THOU ART MORTAL.

The Memento Mori tattoo includes four individual temporary tattoos printed on a single sheet with easy-to-follow instructions on the back. Each tattoo sheet includes two large and two small versions for different sized hands, in high-contrast black and more subtle magenta. Cut each one out and apply with water.
